Why is it so hard to hit a golf ball?
The more important question to ask is, why is it so hard to hit a golf ball to where you want it to go?
We all watch golfer on television and they make it look so easy. Easy, maybe that is the key? When you swing your golf club, how hard do you swing? Do you fall off balance because you swing so hard? Most golfers try to swing the golf club harder to hit the ball farther.
Would you believe that this is actually the opposite of what you should be doing? I know this sounds crazy but it is true. Now I am not telling you to swing in slow motion to hit the ball farther and straighter, but you must slow down your swing speed.
For those that picked up golf at a later stage in life, they have a harder time understanding this philosophy than those that learned to play golf as a kid. Adults learn different than kids. For adults it seems illogical to swing a club slower to hit the ball farther and straighter. Our adult brain is trained to think harder = farther. You must retrain the way you think about the golf swing. Can you think outside the box? For instance, if I said that we are going take our car on a 300-mile journey but we are not going to turn on the engine. You say it is not possible.
I say it is possible because we are going to put our car on a flat bed truck and drive the flat bed truck 300 miles. Yes, this is a little much of a story but I hope you get the point that you must change you thinking about the golf swing if you are going to improve.
