Golf Address and Alignment Tip

by Rick on August 6, 2007

Many golfers have watched their friend’s address their tee shot and thought to themselves “why are they aiming so far to the right/left?” The friend hits the shot and in disgust turns around and says, “What is wrong with my swing? How come the ball went so far to the right/left?” The only answer you can give is “that’s where you were aiming.”

When addressing the ball you must line up 4 things: the clubface, your feet, your hips and your shoulders.

golf swing alignmentThe best way to work on your alignment is on the practice range.

Place a club on the ground and aim it at your target. Now line up you feet parallel to the club. In other words, put your toes up to the club.

Next place the club across your hips and check your alignment and correct alignment as necessary.

Practice this tip until you get a feel for proper alignment.

When your entire body is aimed and aligned correctly, you will notice how your shots will tend to end up where you ant them.
