Well he did it! All I can say is watch out, Jack! Tiger Woods is one step closer to Jack Nicklaus’ all-time major record, earning his 13th career title by winning the 89th PGA Championship by 2 strokes.
It was an exciting and even tense final round. With his five-shot lead trimmed to a single stroke, Tiger kept his cool in temperatures that reached over 100 degrees. He hit 7-iron to 10 feet on the 15th hole for a birdie that gave him some breathing room. Tiger finished at 8-under par.
Woody Austin (6-under par) and Ernie Els (5-under par) both made a run, on the back 9, at Tiger; unfortunately it wasn’t nearly enough.
Tiger’s fourth PGA Championship gave him 13 majors, leaving him only five short of the all-time record held by Jack Nicklaus.
Tiger won for the fifth time this year. No one else on the PGA Tour has won more than twice.
